International Mountain Bicycling Association Receives SRAM Cycling Fund Grants

SRAM Cycling Fund is proud to announce that it has awarded the following grant to the International Mountain Bicycling Association. IMBA is a non-profit educational organization based in Boulder, CO. Its mission is to provide great trails for mountain bikers around the world. IMBA was founded in 1988 to promote mountain biking and encourage low-impact riding. They also encourage volunteer trailwork, collaboration among trail users groups, grassroots advocacy, and innovative trail solutions.

Stan Day, President and CEO of SRAM, recognized the extraordinary achievements of IMBA. Without IMBA’s trail building and restoration efforts over 20 years, it is difficult to imagine mountain biking today. Mike Van Abel, his staff, and hundreds of IMBA grassroots volunteers are well-respected. We believe that SRAMs investment in IMBA will make a significant impact on the future of mountain riding.

Mike Van Abel, Executive director of IMBA spoke about how the funds would be used. SRAM’s contribution to IMBA is something we are very excited about. The new funds will enable IMBA build new trails faster and more efficiently. To strengthen local clubs’ ability to build and maintain trails and to fund new trails through our grassroots fundraising program Team IMBA, we will invest in regional professional staff.

SRAM anticipates that it will announce additional grants in the coming weeks. In January 2009, the SRAM Cycling Fund website goes live. It will contain information about the fund as well as track progress of grants.
