HARO BIKES SIGNNS GREG MINNAAR IN 2003 SEASON

VISTA, CA, January 13, 2003 – Haro Bike announced today that Greg Minnaar, a former World Number One and South African Downhill champion, has been signed to its mountain biking team for the 2003 season. The financial terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

Jim Ford, Haros President, stated that Greg and Mick Hannah, former Global team mates, are excited to be back together in the same program. Greg’s addition to Team Haro Lee Dungarees should make them a formidable team in downhill and 4X events, and will also provide us invaluable input in designing and optimizing our mountain bikes.

Greg Minnaar is a champion and has amazing bike handling skills. Greg Minnaar is a great rider and I’ve been a fan since 1999 when I first saw him on the World Cup circuit. Mike King, Director of Haros Mountain Bicycle Team, stated that he has the potential to win a championship for both our company and our sponsors.

Greg’s debut appearance with Team Haro Lee Dungarees will be at the 2003 Sea Otter Classic, Monterey, California, in April.

Greg’s achievements include being the 2001 UCI Downhill World Cup Champion and winning a bronze at 2001 World Championships. He also won a World Cup Downhill in Kaprun, Austria.

Notable results included a second-place finish in Mont Sainte Anne (Canada) and in Leysin (Switzerland) earlier in the year. Greg was ranked ninth in 2002’s World Cup standings.

Greg will be joining Mick Hannah and Mike King in the Haro Lee Dungarees Downhill/4X team. He will be competing in all NORBA, World Cup and 4X events.

NEWS from GregMinnaarracing.com:

Greg spoke highly of the new team and said that it would be a unique experience to work with a U.S.-based team. He especially enjoyed doing the NORBAs, which he has always wanted to do. Being on a brand new team adds excitement.

Greg will also be reuniting with Mick Hannah, his former Global teammate. He said it was also cool to join Mick again. I hope we can push each other even further.

Greg is currently in Pietermaritzburg, where he mixes motocross and gym with road miles. He is being trained by Stephane Girard. He also practices his skills on a trampoline, as well as riding a frame and fork.
